Andrew Fredericks • Documentary Filmmaker
I have been a producer, director, cinematographer and editor of documentary films for more than 25 years. From my most recent project in Uvlade, Texas, where I was embedded with the reporters at the local newspaper, to films about, social entrepreneurs on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, war crime survivors in Bosnia, a pro-life preacher speaking out against guns, or an incarcerated trans woman artist, I have endeavored to make films that I hope will expanded people’s understanding of our world and empathy towards those with whom we share it.
My work has appeared on PBS, ABC, NBC, Hulu, National Geographic, and screened at festivals across the US and in Europe, including Tribeca, DOC NYC, AFI Docs, OutFest LA, and The Galway Film Fleadh.
I have edited more than 20 full-length documentaries for broadcast and non-broadcast outlets, as well as countless shorter pieces from sizzle reels to trailers to documentary shorts and magazine-style stories.

My documentary credits include the Emmy award winning Armor of Light, directed by Abigail Disney, John Leguizamo's Road to Broadway for PBS's Great Performances, I Came to Testify for the highly acclaimed Women, War and Peace series, Hulu's 3212 Un-Redacted, Buffalo Returns for Tribeca Studios as well as numerous collaborations with preeminent journalist, Bill Moyers. *

Films I have edited have received numerous awards, including an Emmy, a Peabody, Christopher, National Headliner, ABA’s Silver Gavel, Overseas Press Club Edward R. Murrow award, Society of Professional journalists’ First Amendment Award, and a Television Academy Honor. The New York Times named Looks Like Laury, Sounds Like Laury one of the "best television shows of 2015."

With a life-long love of photography and a degree in visual communications from Ohio University's Scripps College of Journalism, I have spent my career capturing images for film and television. My latest work as a cinematographer, titled Love, Jamie, a film about an incarcerated Trans-woman artist, won the Grand Jury Prize for outstanding documentary short at Outfest LA. My camera work was also recently heavily featured in ABC’s It Happened Here, about the 2022 massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. I shot the feature-length documentaries Money Driven Medicine and Fat, as well as numerous segments for Bill Moyers Journal, NOW, Blueprint America and other network and independent projects.
